This pair of mixed-media pieces continues the exploration of memory, perception, and transformation through layered photography, drawing, and non-archival cement. The materials—tissue paper, glue, and photographic imagery—interact in ways that obscure and reveal, creating compositions that shift with time and light.
In the first piece, a religious statue is partially obscured by two horizontal bars, with four additional bars of glue painted over it. The layering disrupts the clarity of the figure, as if the image itself is being held in place or restrained.
The second piece presents an older woman’s face, deeply crinkled, further abstracted by the glue’s unpredictable surface. Her gaze is slightly lifted, her lips caught between speech and thought. Both fleeting and suspended.
Together, these works continue the dialogue between permanence and impermanence, presence and obscurity—each layer adds to the erosion of certainty, mirroring the way memories fragment, distort, and transform over time.

These mixed-media pieces explore the fluid nature of memory, perception, and time through a layered process of photography, drawing, and non-archival cement. As the material ages, it alters and transforms the images, creating an evolving surface where figures emerge, dissolve, and reconfigure themselves.
The first set of images presents a mother gazing at a fragmented child's face embedded within her own portrait. Within the layers of cement, an older woman materializes, looking back at the mother, while the child’s face becomes a mirror of her gaze. A small V101 sticker appears in the top right—a term typically associated with introductory courses, which I often use as a reference to beginnings or foundational experiences. Here, it hints at themes of lineage and generational connection. A delicate tissue placed over the image further complicates its visibility, allowing the work to shift in presence and intensity depending on the light in the room.
The result is an interplay between visibility and obscurity, permanence and impermanence—an exploration of how images, like memories, distort, erode, and resurface over time.
